I'd Like to Have One Someday
It was a Saturday afternoon at our home in Los Altos, just a few miles from Apple's campus. The doorbell rang and upon opening the door I was pleasantly surprised to see Steve standing at my front porch. He had just returned from a long trip to Japan where he met with Akio Morita, the famous Chairman of Sony. Steve appreciated the design and beauty of Sony products.
This was an unusual day because Steve rarely came to our house, and especially on an impromptu visit. I invited him in and called to Joyce for her to join us. After greeting each other and learning about his trip, he gave us a special gift -- a beautiful Japanese art print (see below). It has become a permanent treasure in our home art collection ever since.
We visited for a while and then he spotted a photo of our family hanging on a wall. The photo below is what he saw. He turned to Joyce and asked her, "Do you have a smaller version of that photo that I could have?" She replied yes, and asked why he wanted it. He said, "I'd like to keep it in my wallet. I think I'd like to have one someday."
Joyce found a smaller version and gave it to Steve. He promptly put it in his wallet. Many years later he was able to have one of his own. This makes me very happy.
